Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach at a Title 1 high school that has a focus on academic excellence. We host a diverse urban population. Despite economic disadvantages, my students are eager and hungry to learn. They are energetic and seeking for ways to engage with the world around them.

During this year I have about 360 students that will cross the threshold of my classroom.

I want to to give them an unforgettable learning experience. Each student is special and unique, the learning environment should reflect this as well.

My Project

I am requesting 11 Chromebooks for my classroom. My students need daily exposure to online research, typing, and professional online communication. Your investment in donating Chromebooks to will help my students reach across the digital divide and engage with technology on a regular basis. In addition to developing professional online communication, engaging in online research and creating electronic presentations, the students will be given an opportunity to develop critical thinking and typing skills. As an educator, it is heartbreaking to see students with stellar ideas that lack the ability to type and share their thoughts within a given time frame. While I do have access to a computer lab, this is limited and shared with 2700 other students who are in English courses at my school. Your donation will help to give my students regular access and exposure to technology. Your gift will assist my students in becoming college and career ready.
