Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have such an amazing group of students this year! Unfortunately, many are still feeling the aftershock of Hurricane Harvey. We've received new students that have been displaced because of flooding and current students in crowded homes because they or other family members have been displaced.
Our school's population is made up of mostly low income families.
As a school, we try to give them in our classrooms what isn't available to them at home. Technology is one of the main things our students lack at home, so their only opportunity is in our rooms.
My Project
Students need to be engaged, not talked at. With classroom Chromebooks, we will be able to play quiz games, practice games, and much more to not only keep students engaged, but get better at math while having fun. We are also working towards becoming paperless to better help the environment and the massive amounts of paper that we use from day to day.
In today's classroom, we need to keep up with the ever-changing technology world.
That is really hard to do without computers! Students also need to build research skills, word processing skills, and more to be able to contribute to society in a meaningful way one day.
