This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in South Los Angeles. The vast majority of our students are Latino/Hispanic and low-income. While only an estimated 25% of their parents have a high school degree, our students dream big and nearly all of them attend college after graduation.

Unfortunately, many of our students lack access to technology in their own homes.

Because our school is becoming more technology-based, this poses a formidable challenge for our students. Students without computers find it difficult for themselves to complete homework, work on college applications, and apply for summer programs and internships.

My Project

This small project will fund one Chromebook, as well as Chromebook cases to keep these investments safe and in good working order. These items will be added to our school's loaner laptop collection. Our loaners are in constant demand and we often cannot meet our students' needs.

These laptops are loaned to students so that they can complete assignments and apply to colleges and enrichment programs.

Many students do not have computers of their own and they rely on having access to our loaner items. By funding this project, you are allowing more students to have adequate access to technology.
