We work to capitalize on the natural love of the arts! Our school is an urban public school that focuses on learning through the arts. Each student has the opportunity to participate in art, music, dance, physical education, choir, instrumental music, and drama.
We are a busy split classroom (2nd and 3rd grades) who are always looking for ways to incorporate the arts into our daily subject work.
Our school is working toward an International Baccalaureate certification in PYP (Primary Years Programme). This means we teach and learn in innovative ways that result in lifelong learners that are internationally minded. A large piece of this is helping students find many ways to express their learning.
My Project
We are fortunate that our district has provided our classroom with 12 chromebooks. However, in our 2nd/3rd Grade split classroom, this means that 3 of the 3rd graders cannot work on a Chromebook since there simply aren't enough.
Because we have multiple grade levels in our classroom, we often work on research or individualized instruction in science, math, reading, and social studies.
In order for this type of learning to be successful, we also need headphones so that we can hear the instruction given without bothering (or being distracted) by others around us.
3 Chromebooks and headphones would give us enough chromebooks for a whole grade level to work on a subject at one time.
