Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is located in the poorest congressional district in the nation, and all students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches. The school is predominately Latino and African American. Thirty percent of the students are English language learners, and some are the first of their families to graduate. Despite all of this, 100% of our graduating seniors are college or career bound.

Our students should have the same opportunities as any other student in the country.

They work hard to succeed without letting anything get in their way. As a community school, each year our graduation rate has increased, and we want to make their learning as meaningful and purposeful as possible.

Each year, I try to replenish and keep my classroom computer cart up-to-date. This year, I am sharing a room with the robotics teacher and the computer science teacher. Since we all use the computer cart it has been heavily used for Computer science and robotics classes. Especially since they do more heavy programming. The great thing is through open sourcing, they have been able to use chrome books to access a lot of the work online and to upload their coding results. I am requesting 5 Chromebooks so that my students will have more mobile devices to work on in class as we are limited. This project is a sister project that I had posted previously. This project will near fully completing the computer cart.
