Help me give my students a Chromebook for the technology lab so that we can learn the fundamentals of computer coding.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
The approximately 840 amazing students at our elementary school range from Pre-K through fifth grade. The majority of my students receive a free or reduced-price lunch. The willingness of my students to learn new things is an inspiration to me and our entire community.
Students at our school are extremely excited to be able to come to a technology lab where they learn how to use a computer, how to be safe while online, how to write code, type, enrichment learning software, and learn the skills needed to do research and explore our ever changing world.
These are essential skills all students need and must have moving forward in this new and modern world.
As a technology instructor with a computer information systems degree and background, I would love for every student to have the opportunity to experience the world of technology, computers, robotics, and the internet.
Some students learn better by seeing. I will be using Chromebooks in each technology lab to demonstrate different coding commands and what those commands do within a program.
Chromebooks are one of the most effective ways to demonstrate coding skills using individualized instruction for students.
Every student thinks and reasons differently. Coding increases critical and logical thinking skills. Having a Chromebook to assist students as they write increasingly difficult programs will allow them to discover different methods of solving algorithms and to think outside the box. Chromebooks allow my students to see, share, and use creative logic with the world!
