My students are a diverse group who come from across Los Angeles. They speak multiple languages and represent dozens of nationalities. I teach five classes each day with preteens and teens from a broad spectrum of religious backgrounds and socioeconomic levels.
It is their desire to learn skills and knowledge that will lead to challenging and exciting careers in computer science.
Some of them travel hours each day to attend our magnet center, which focuses on technology as well as science and mathematics.
My students will use these Chromebooks to learn a variety of coding languages, such as HTML and CSS. These coding languages will be used to build apps, websites, create games, and more. IWith the help of these chrome books, my students will leave middle school ready for the challenge of taking advanced placement (AP) computer science in high school.
In addition to learning coding, students will use the new chrome books to learn about computational thinking and how to be responsible digital citizens.
New chrome books will ensure that for each class, every student's information can be secured with a single sign on for each computer.
