Middle school science is an opportunity for students to explore, experiment and get excited about Earth, Life and Physical Sciences. The foundation of individual investigations and experimentation begins in these years of learning.
My students are smart and fun.
They are trying to make sense of their world, making them curious and thoughtful. Middle school students are learning about who they are. Their unique personalities and academic abilities are developing and their need for independence is growing. They live in a time where technology is integrated in their lives and these are the tools that keep them current and relevant. This same technology they use outside the classroom needs to be used in the classroom to ensure their academic success.
My Project
Students will use the Chromebooks and Google applications for research and enrichment. I have an average of thirty students per class, therefor the twelve Chromebooks will be used for group work, differentiated instruction activities and stations. Having the access to online resources and collaboration applications within the classroom will allow students to learn seamlessly in groups and individually.
Classroom and textbook instruction doesn't have to be put on hold for research and project creation. I can reinforce the study and work skills needed for the ongoing academic success of my students. These tools also support the inclusion of all students and interventions like reteaching content or preparing for online assessments. The technology allows our classroom to be a true learning environment with the access to support current curriculum standards.
Our science team at LC believes in developing the fundamental skills our young scientists need to explore and investigate their living world.
Skills that will be the foundation of their academic success and life long learning. Integrated technology in the classroom gives me the tools to align our learning environment to common core initiatives and California State standards.
