Mr. Bergevin from Philadelphia PA is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need Acer Chromebooks to access social emotional online programs including GoStrengths, Mind Yeti, and Second Step and to access career readiness programs like Naviance.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students come from a very low-income/high needs environment. The school is a Title I school in Philadelphia where one hundred percent of our students are eligible for free meals. Many of my students are performing well below grade level and many struggle to display safe behaviors in the classroom. My students want to learn and achieve but struggle at times to do so.
Many students at my school struggle with emotional regulation and have challenges using positive coping skills to manage their behaviors.
They are in great need of therapeutic interventions and programs to help them learn necessary skills to remain focused, calm and engaged in their learning in the classroom. They are also in need of career readiness interventions to help them learn about their interests and strengths and set goals for their future.
I am requesting four Acer Chromebooks to help students access online social-emotional literacy programs and career readiness programs. The requested materials will allow our students to access programs like GoStrengths, Mind Yeti, and Second Step, which will help them to learn various coping and self-regulation strategies. Students will also have easier access to career readiness, personality, interest and strength inventories offered through Naviance.
These Chromebooks will be set up in the guidance office where students can utilize them in small group rotations in conjunction with other small group sessions provided by the school counselor.
Donating to this project will be so important in meeting the varied and significant needs of our students. This use of technology will allow students to access individualized supports in areas of learning related to social-emotional development and career readiness. Students will have more chances to succeed in the classroom and in their future.
