Help me give my students these Chromebooks so they can take their online AP exam at home!

This year, as their new guidance counselor, I was introduced to “AP Classes”. Being new to the profession but having children of my own I was vaguely familiar with AP classes. I met nine incredible students that showed interest in taking an AP class - four juniors and five seniors. These nine students signed up for AP classes and have shown academically, they are worthy. Academically, they are alike but their personalities are very different. We have a few that are very quiet and a few that are over the top. Some are athletes and some would rather have their nose in a book. One thing they all have in common is their commitment to their school district and their community. I wish you could know them as I know them!
Due to Covid19, these nine incredible students will be taking their AP Exams at home.
We, as a nation, have never had to deal with a pandemic like this before. These students have worked so very hard this year and they are so very grateful to have the opportunity to still take their exams. Yes, I said, they want to take their exams!! This is how committed they are!
Now that you know a little about my AP students, I would like to ask for a favor. These nine students do not have the means to purchase devices to take their exams at home, nor do their families. Normally, we would be at school on the school computers but we have to change and adapt right now. I know my students and myself would be so very grateful if they each had a Chromebook to take their AP exams on at home during this pandemic. I know that I am asking for a lot for my students, but I would ask a hundred times if it means they will get the help they need. Most of my seniors have already been accepted to college, one junior has had a college offer and another may be starting basic training over the summer for the National Guard.
They are very serious about their academics and their future.
They have to be in order to achieve their academic goals. I will have peace of mind knowing that each of my nine students are able take their AP exam at home and not have to worry about spotty WiFi, shared data and sharing a device with parents and siblings. They deserve this peace of mind so their mind can focus on more important things. These Chromebooks will make it easier for my students to focus on the importance of this exam and further their education. They have worked so very hard this year and deserve to finish out the year strong!
