My students attend a Title I (low-income) school in Georgia. They live in homes with limited finances and access to technology. Our school is comprised of 98% (inner-city) African-American students. They are very hard-working students who strive to make themselves and their families proud, many of whom who have been caught up in intergenerational poverty. In the world today, STEM is at the center of everything we do, between interacting with others, learning new information, and completing hands-on tasks in the classroom.
My students need technology, such as HP Chromebooks 11A G6 . It will eliminate the transition time from classroom to computer media center. The students are learning to use Google Classroom for all their writing assignments.
This year students are introduced to the Narrative and Informational writing.
The laptops will allow students to see their writing and make changes as they're expressing themselves in writing. Also, students will use the laptops for math, research, projects, assessment, creating and publishing their creative writing books. The new technology will be an excellent tool for all the students. The students get very excited when they have technology, the only drawback is they have to share computers. Having the Chromebooks will reduce sharing of technology.
