"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." -Benjamin Franklin. My classes are diverse groups full of knowledge-thirsty 8th graders who are ready and willing to have a hands-on learning experience. They have the desire to go above and beyond in order to reach their fullest potential.
My students span from general education students, English language learners, full-inclusion students, students with 504 plans, and students with Individual Education Plans.
My students are ambitious, creative, and like most middle school students, love to learn about what is relevant to their lives!
My Project
Chromebooks will allow my students access to online content and curriculum. The need to accommodate student access to computer technology in the classroom is undeniable. Traditional Macs and PCs are often too costly and difficult to maintain. So what options are suitable and integrate seamlessly with students' district Google Drive accounts? Chromebooks are the affordable and reliable solution.
Learners will have direct access to several web-based literacy tools including Renaissance learning and Newsela, an online nonfictional literacy software that enables teachers to differentiate instructional goals for all student populations.
By gifting my students Chromebooks, they will have access to contemporary technology on a daily basis that allows them to have an engaging and unique experience. This style of learning puts students into the driver seat and allows them to learn by doing. Education apps and project-based learning introduce real and relevant problems to the class curriculum and promote 21st century skills through critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and in-depth inquiry. If funded, my students will be able to use these devices to collaborate, construct, and create authentic learning experiences during individual or project-based learning---both deeply connected to CCSS.
The possibilities are truly endless with a class full of eager learners!
