Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hard-working, motivated fifth graders who do all they can to succeed despite the difficult circumstances many of them come from. Several of my students are often found helping their families on farms or ranches during after-school hours, while many others come from very low-income families and are helping at home.
Reading opens up new worlds to these fifth graders, who are eager to snatch up new information!
You should have seen their excitement when we learned how to use a REAL (not online) encyclopedia set that allowed them to choose topics on their own interests! With a little help and encouragement, these students will soar into new adventures throughout their educational journey.
My Project
Our rural school needs some help coming into the 21st century. Currently, our technology resources in the classroom are extremely limited and outdated.
These Chromebooks would give us a chance to learn internet safety and other critical digital citizenship skills.
Students need a safe environment in which they can learn how to use the internet with guidance and support. By using a few Chromebook laptops I could help guide my students to become responsible digital learners and prepare them for their future.
Our class just discovered Google's Apps for Education and these Chromebooks would allow us to use those apps to publish our writing, research new topics of interest, create presentations, and interact with global news and events.
