My students need access to current technology in order to succeed in an ever-increasing technological world. Having additional Chromebooks in the classroom will allow my students the opportunity to perform research and submit their work electronically.
As a fourth-grade teacher in an inner-city elementary school, my students have to deal with many challenges within the classroom and at home. The students in my classroom are both economically and ethnically diverse. 100% of my students receive both free breakfast and lunch and 38% of the students in my classroom are English Language Learners.
My students deserve the same access to educational opportunities as students from more affluent communities.
Despite the many hardships my students may face, they are always eager and ready to put in their best effort. My students know that we are striving to learn and better ourselves and sometimes we fail or make mistakes. These failures and mistakes are important steps in learning. My students deserve an engaging classroom with the correct tools to help them become life-long learners.
My Project
Currently, my classroom has four working desktop computers for 24 students. I am hoping to receive additional technology in the form of the Acer Chromebook 11 N7. The addition of Chromebooks to our classroom will allow more students access to programs, study materials, and online curriculum.
Additionally, with a national focus on standardized testing and our states migration to an online testing format, it is important for students to have the tools necessary to practice the skills they will need to succeed on these tests.
The added technology will also give my students access to the online portion of the districts math curriculum. Thank you for your consideration.
