Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have an effervescent group of students this year, full of energy and eager to learn. As a teacher in a low-income/urban school district, my students are faced with many obstacles both in and out of the classroom. Despite the negativities they may encounter, they still come to my classroom with a smile on their face.
This year our academy became a Leader In Me school.
Many of the habits we are learning about encourage the students to set goals and be proactive when making decisions. I can see through their daily actions and choices, that they are striving to set an example and become role models, not only for their peers but for their families and communities. I want to give them the opportunity to thrive and reach their goals. This project will help them do so.
My Project
I would like to give my students an opportunity to take charge of their learning. With Chromebooks, they will be able to discover new ways to practice everyday 2nd grade skills. Knowing that they will have technology at their fingertips will encourage them to think outside the box.
We would also be able to pair this technology with our current curriculum, and become more eco-friendly eliminating the need for paper materials.
Technology makes learning more meaningful and engaging. I hope to give my students the chance to succeed with a multitude of learning experiences. Chromebooks would enhance the possibilities for students who don't get to experience learning with technology at home.
