My students need 5 Chromebooks so that our class can be a 1 to 1 classroom.

My 6th-grade students are bright, eager to learn, and excited to come to school each day, so they can grow as much as they possibly can. They are curious, full of wonder, and excited about the world around them. I teach at a Title I school in North Carolina where 100 percent of our children receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My students come from diverse backgrounds, with over 40% of them coming from Hispanic families and/or being considered ESL/ELL.
Therefore, many of our students have limited resources outside of school, so school may provide their only chance to experience enriching activities.
My classroom currently has one outdated desktop computer and 22 Chromebooks for student usage. While we are supposed to be a 1:1 school, we continue to get new students and this limits the amount of technology within my class. This limitation makes it extremely difficult to for me to bring the amount of technology I desire into the classroom. In addition, this limitation makes it difficult for me to allow the number of students I need to access technology to do so on a daily basis.
Technology use in the classroom helps to engage students and makes them become more active participants in the learning process.
Through the implementation of technology I have in my classroom, my students learned to participate in interactive activities as well as create informative presentations associated with the math content they are learning. Through the use of additional technology with the Chromebooks I am requesting, I will be able to provide students with more opportunities to work more independently through blended learning. Students who are capable will take a more active role in learning through taking notes and completing assignments interactively while I provide less capable students with more individualized instruction and intervention.
My students are growing up in a technological society where it is imperative that they learn to operate and utilize technology on a regular basis. I believe it is imperative that I bring more advanced technology into my classroom to assist my students in preparing for their future goals.
