This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach Pre-K at an urban school in a large district. The Governor of my State has closed all K-12 schools in the state for the rest of the 2019-2020 School year. My students come from low income families. Most of my parents do not have a high school diploma. Most are unemployed or underemployed and because of the Pandemic, face problems such as, inadequate food for their families, lack of electronic equipment to bridge the digital divide and some even face homelessness. My students are currently learning from home. We meet on Microsoft Teams every morning. The students that are able to join my class would benefit greatly from this project, because I would be able to provide quality instruction throughout this Pandemic. I could also share materials provided y our district to families that are unable to get them on their own-(ex- The Pre-K Distance Learning Packet).
My Project
My project is quite simple. I need up-to-date technology and a Google Chrome Education License to provide quality instruction to my Pre-K students.
The Google Pixelbook will allow me to provide quality instruction to the students that attend my live support session daily on Microsoft teams.
Unfortunately, my current laptop is old and outdated. This new Chromebook would be utilized to teach my students online daily. I would have the ability to share documents, upload assignments, show videos and books, communicate with parents as well other duties required as a teacher during this pandemic. The Chrome Education License is included with the Chromebook as a bundle.
