My students come from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds with over 80% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. We have a high ESL population. Many students speak another language at home or here at school - Spanish, Arabic, French, various African dialects, etc. As diverse as they are in their backgrounds, our students are also diverse in their learning. Our students range from being many grades below grade level to high achievers in the Spectrum and Algebra programs. We are a growth school. This means that our students may not achieve highly on standardized tests, but we "grow" our students and fill in the gaps they have. Our school is student-centered and family-minded.
We advocate for our students.
They come first. Always.
My Project
My students are very lucky to be receiving a class set of 15 chromebooks in our classroom next year. This will make us a 2:1 classroom.
A digital classroom is a game changer!
Our students are on electronics from morning to night. Adding a digital component to the classroom will peak interest and put the learning into their own hands.
The downside to our chromebook gift is that we will not be receiving storage or headphones. It would be nearly impossible for learning to take place without the use of headphones. After doing much research, I have put together the essentials needed to build a storage system for our chromebooks. Along with the storage, I am requesting headphones to be paired with each Chromebook for students to utilize throughout the day.
