Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Despite some of the hardships my students have faced, my class shows up ready to learn every day! They are a very caring bunch and I would love for them to see that other people (some they don't even know) care about them, too!
My students are not currently digital natives because they do not have access to computers at home.
More than 70% of my first grade students receive free or reduced price lunches. My students are eager to learn, and even more inspired when I am able to reinforce their learning with "games" on the computer or tablets. School is the place where my students can become proficient with technology, but we need the resources to do so.
My Project
My students will use these chromebooks in a learning center to reinforce classroom lessons. They can work independently or in partners to practice reading, spelling, and math skills. My students who are below grade level can also access academically appropriate material.
Today's students are considered to be digital natives, but many students in my classroom lack access to technology at home.
These chromebooks would provide an opportunity for me to teach computer literacy while reinforcing math, reading, and spelling curriculum.
