My students are innovative, imaginative, and inquisitive! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things in order to grow both personally and academically.
We are at a low SES school, where the entire population receives free breakfast and lunch.
A good portion of our population is also military. Along with the challenges these students are facing being low SES or military, we also have a large majority with 504 plans or IEPs with diagnosed learning disabilities or challenges.
My Project
As technology continues to advance, our funding does not. Our equipment is outdated and no longer supported. This Chromebook will help support learning opportunities for my students by providing up-to-date equipment. The flexibility of the laptop ensures students can work anywhere.
Students face an ever-changing world of technology, and it is extremely important we expose students to different ways of expressing their knowledge.
Many of my students are struggling academically. Technology often "hooks" my students, and encourages stronger levels of engagement. Technology provides me with new ways to differentiate learning for all students.
This equipment will allow students to create digital projects, record themselves reading/speaking, and also utilize voice-to-text features. This ensures that all students can publish their ideas. It also opens the door to sharing ideas with their peers. Most importantly, it will also allow me to teach student digital responsibility and safety.
