We are a K-5th grade school with over 700 students, including a large population of students working hard to become proficient in English. There are eight students in my class who speak and read another language. Our students come from all different religious and cultural backgrounds, along with socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school is privileged to serve military families and children of Barksdale Air Force Military Base. Our school was recently rated an A School by the state of Louisiana. If our students are to be competitive in today's world they need to become proficient in computer use. We want to be able to provide for our students to have what they need to be successful
My Project
Our parish has purchased the licenses for several amazing programs that are designed and proven to improve student success. These programs are designed to be used at the least, 3-4 times a week, which means we need an addition 2 Chromebooks.
Our limited resources mean my class only gets to access the programs 1-2 times a week.
My students have become invested in these programs and are anxious to get on as much as possible. However, the Chromebooks I have must be shared with another class so we don't get to use the programs as often as we should. I know these programs will make a difference in their work if we only had the extra chromebooks to use more often. These Chromebooks will make such a difference in their education. I hope to see progress in math along with other subject areas through the use of different computer programs and software. Students will be able to gain access to programs in the classroom which will assist in their math and reading skills. This resource will be an important addition to our curriculum and a great way to keep students motivated and on task.
