Chromebook Coders

My students need access to chromebooks that are fast, touch screen, and user friendly. In our district right now we have old technology and not enough for all the student to utilize.

My Students

We have some high energy students who love to use technology, and who are eager about their learning. When introduced to computer science they showed much enthusiasm, desire, and tenacity when it came to problem solving within coding. It brought out their resourcefulness and their abilities to think creatively to solve problems. I work with students 7th-8th, and many of my students who have been introduced to computer science now are planning on computer science being their college major. Yes!!

My Project

We are learning how to create our own games on devices, not just playing them. We are making our own apps and not just using other people's ideas. We want to be the next innovative generation of creating the most exciting technology that benefits all fields, but we need the technology to help us achieve our goals.

We currently have old devices in our room; some of which no longer work, while others take a long time to connect to the Internet.

This creates frustration with the students as they are beginning their journey as future coders. We are looking at replacing a classroom set of 30, however if we can replace the really bad ones first, it would make teaching easier, and coding more enjoyable.
