My Students

My students hail from a small town in southern Mississippi. We are a public elementary school that educates approximately 600 students from a variety of diverse backgrounds. More than fifty percent come from low-income homes. They range in age from five to ten years old and are in kindergarten through third grade.

Every student visits the library at least once each week.

Budget cuts have hit the library hard, and outside funding is necessary to keep my students Up to date with technology.

My Project

Modern technology will allow my students to explore and learn!

Four chromebooks will enable a small group learning center where students can keep abreast of updated technology, try out learning games, and utilize the library's onlIne public access catalog.

My students need technology to meet their learning needs. Most communication and research is done electronically, and many of our students do not have tablets or laptops at home.

One assignment they will have is to create a slideshow of a research project of an animal. This will help develop proficient writing skills as well as research skills.

Students will also access online quizzes, tutorials, and enhance learning through a variety of educational apps.
