The students in my classes are some of the most amazing I've ever had the chance to work with. Students are from varied backgrounds, national origins, and home lives. What brings us all together is our love of learning, and our respect and admiration of our differences.
Students in my class come very different homes.
While some have the financial means to support their students' academic successes, others find it difficult just to make sure there is enough food. Students in my classroom lack basic necessities, so asking for supplies and support can be a very difficult thing. Over 77% of students in our school currently receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My Project
Students in my classroom this year have excelled with the generous support of so many people. We have been able to work our way from nothing to 15 Chromebooks in one year. We are working to have enough Chromebooks so that everyone can work at the same time. With these additional 5 Chromebooks, we will have a total of 20, and we find ourselves in the position of needing a place to store and charge them in an organized manner.
With all of this new technology, we are seeing huge gains in student interactions with their learning, and many more students are attending school than ever before.
When at one point, 2-3 students might be out at a time, we are seeing maybe one, and many days we are seeing full attendance. Students are always looking to see what we are going to do next.
