Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a large high school (1700 students) in a rural area. Our Physics program has seen rapid growth in the past few years, but our technology has been lagging behind. Now is the time to make sure we have the resources our students need to succeed.
We are the older, and now smaller, of two comprehensive high schools in our district.
Our students are mainly second language, and the majority of them qualify for free or reduced rate lunch. Many of them will be the first ones in their family to attend college. Physics is a challenging subject for many of our students, so making sure that we have all the tools they need in place and ready to go is vital.
My Project
This project is quite simple: we need to add Chromebooks to our classroom so that each student can have one (our goal is to be one to one with Chromebooks). While it is great to have technology in the classroom, when we have to double up, or have someone do without, it does not bode well.
Our world is highly computer driven, and we need to make sure all of our students have adequate access to technology.
We use computers all the time to do data collection, prepare reports, and communicate, but we are a few computers short of a full cart. Adding these two Chromebooks, will bring us nearly to one to one.
