My Students

Our school has a very diverse population of 550 students. We are a T-K through 6th school. Twenty one classrooms use the school library weekly to borrow essential reading materials and research online information for their studies. We use the Accelerated Reading Program along with GIGI, Lexia, Hour of Code and other online apps. The library has only 3 older computers to share with classes of 30 students.

We are very limited by our current equipment and lack funding.

This is a neighborhood where most families have two parents working and many students do not have books or computers at home. Approximately 75% of our children are qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

My Project

Chromebooks will add valuable resources to our room for students. There is a lack of computers for student to use; we have three out-of-date computers for a class of 30 students.

Our students are currently using our ineffective amount of computers daily for research.

We use special programs that are online to provide opportunities for the children to increase their computer skills. With our limited resources this is a very difficult task. More Chromebooks would help get more students engaged at the same time. Since the Chromebooks are portable the children can work at their desks to complete their assignments.
