This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
Music motivates us! Art motivates us! Great speeches inspire us! We are at our best when history is alive in our classroom! My students need experiences that transport them into history and we need Chrome Books to do that!
My students have a background of high poverty but a future that is bright!
100% of my students get free breakfast, lunch, snack, and a backpack on the weekends. My students need to be inspired by America's amazing triumphs and they need to learn how to avoid America's mistakes. They need to take learning into their own hands and not be told the answers.
By having chrome books in our classroom we can work in centers and access websites that will allow us to "see" and "hear" history. We will be able to listen to Bessie Smith sing the blues and Winston Churchill inspire a nation. We can mourn with our nation as we watch bombs fall on Pearl Harbor and cheer as a man lands on the moon.
By having Chrome Books available in the classroom students can become the researchers and historians and I can become their guide.
When students have a question they can search for the answer instead of being told the answer. By having Chrome Books I can put the learning into my students hands.
