My students are vivacious and full of potential. I teach 11 students with special needs. Most of them are from low-income Chinese immigrant families. They range from ages four to seven and are all emergent bilinguals. They each have different sensory needs and preferences.
We focus on creative problem solving and gratitude in our class.
We start each day with a social story, preemptively solving any social problems that may arise. We end each day with a thank you circle in which the students thank each other for their friendship and hard work.
The students are all very creative and unique. They are eager to learn from each other and to interact with each other through small group work and play.
My Project
We are in a bridge class of kids aged 5 to 7. My students range from kindergarten through 2nd grade. They have different learning capabilities and needs. We often have rotational learning where some students do independent or small group work while I instruct and work with other students. Having two Chromebooks in the class will allow students to engage in educational games and software that's at their own level. Students who can't read yet can also listen to audio books.
Help my students be engaged at all times with audio books, math games, phonics games and writing activities through the Chromebooks!
With these Chromebooks, students will be able to choose their own activities and stay engaged when they are in small groups or when they have completed their independent work. We will mainly use these Chromebooks for educational apps, like Reading A to Z or Math games. The headphones will allow students to focus in on each word as the audio books are read to them.
The students will benefit greatly from these materials to stay engaged all the time!
