My students need books to help them make connections to history. Interactive History Adventure Books put students in the time and place of history and helps them understand the choices people were faced with.
My classroom is comprised of 7th and 8th grade students who are bright and enjoy challenges. They are AP and college bound permitting they can find funding through scholarship. Because of the socioeconomic class they are in, our team's goal is to ensure that they become well rounded, global citizens, despite any financial disadvantages.
Our school is on 100% free and reduced lunch due to the economic situation our students are in, which allows prohibits their opportunities for learning.
We're looking to close the gap.
My Project
These Interactive History Adventure Books will allow students to put themselves in the shoes of different people throughout history. As they are faced with the decisions people had to make they will get to see the different outcomes that were possible based on their choices.
Without ever leaving the classroom my students can travel the Oregon Trial, defend the Alamo, build the Transcontinental Railroad, strike it rich in the California Gold Rush or defend their land as a Sioux warrior.
History comes alive through literature as students take ownership of their fate by plotting the course of their adventure. And every time they read a new adventure awaits.
