My Students

I teach third grade at a Title I school in West Valley City, Utah. Most of the students come from low-income families, and a good portion are English Language Learners.

My students love to learn and come to school, yet many have deficiencies or need additional support to reach grade-level content.

They need additional assistance in reading skills and learn best using hands-on methods. I love my kids and hope to give them the best education any student could have!

My Project

My students need flexible seating for returning to school following COVID-19. Different students have different needs for sitting and learning. The wobble chairs are great options for students that are not able to sit still in a standard chair for long periods of time.

Many students have had to readjust to sitting in classrooms all day long, especially if they were learning online last year.

I would like these wobble chairs and the collaborative table to give them options of where to sit and how they best learn. This will help create a flexible learning environment where the learning and community is structured to best meet the needs of the learners.

The whiteboard table will allow them to work collaboratively with their peers which is something they were not able to do as much during the pandemic online learning and safety restrictions. I would like to continue to build those social and collaborative skills for students and encourage them to work together to push their thinking and learning!
