Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are young men and young ladies who live in the "most dangerous" city in the US as well as being labeled one of the "highest poverty rates." They struggle daily in many ways to make it to school, but once they arrive they are ready to go. We have breakfast together and then we are off on our learning adventure for the day. My students come to school to learn. They have plans for college, and to reach those goals we push every day to overcome the struggles they face.

My Project

My students love to move around the room during independent work time. We have clip boards and the students always ask to use them and go some place to complete their work. Well, from their idea, a project was born. My project has yoga balls, go anywhere seats, and laptop stands so the students can complete their work by getting up and finding a place where they are comfortable to work. The portable seats allow the student to be partnered for support or the ability to go and have their space. These options will address my students' needs as well as incorporate their ideas into my project.
