Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My second graders are creative, fun, and talented. These kids teach me how to be a better teacher every day.
My students deserve the experience of quality educational tools.
I teach in Midland, Texas. Our elementary campus is striving to overcome obstacles and prepare students for the future. My 21st-century students crave exciting academic experiences. As their teacher, I strive to fill our daily schedule with fun and engaging lessons to help my students reach their own best. I am a very proud teacher, also an ATPE teacher!
My Project
Lakeshore reading workstations are awesome! The Brightly colored activities are sure to catch the attention of my students In workstations.
Definitely a change from the black and white photocopies and card stock activities currently available at my campus.
My 2nd graders would enjoy these stations: The Reading Comprehension Bundle, Sequencing High Intervention Reading folders, Match and Sort language quickies, Reading and Writing Folder games would be great functional stations and exemplify the fundamentals of reading. During our school day, we have 120 minutes devoted to reading workstations and small group guided reading. During this time, children work independently or in table groups to complete tasks that follow our TEKS. I have 5 different reading stations- fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, writing, and phonics are my stations. The kids rotate throughout the stations for 1 hour everyday. So I need attention getting colorful activities so the kids will practice reading skills. Having a stash of variety of quality activities to keep the kids busy enables me to teach small groups without distractions. Plus fun activities make learning fun! The products would fit in as an ready for kids to use immediately. The Vocabulary Station would really benefit in having the Match and Sort games would be used frequently as the kids would think of it as a game. The Reading Comprehension bundle would first be used at my small group table to aid in teaching lessons on phonics, comprehension, fluency, and vocabulary and then later the kids could use it Without me. During 7:45 to 8:30 everyday, I teach intervention. I could see me using the Sequencing High Intervention Reading Folders daily. Plus ready made stations are a big timesaver for teachers & the kids again would enjoy practicing sequencing as it is an essential skill.
