Mr. Humphrey from Newport NC is requesting Musical Instruments through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students sturdy, durable music folders for rehearsal and performance
CHS is an academically successful, rural high school that is filled to the brim with about 900 wonderful students. We serve our military community by educating students whose parents serve or work at the USMC and Naval facilities at Camp Lejeune or Cherry Point, the two Coast Guard stations, and/or Bogue Air Field. I teach many students across all grade levels in my choir and drama classes as well as after-school music and drama performing arts programs.
In the state's ranking system, our high-performing high school has been ranked as a top ten public high school in NC for ten consecutive years.
Through our state's report card system, we have been given an "A+" designation five years in a row.
We sustain a rich history of high-quality choral music and theatrical productions, receiving the highest ratings at state adjudications annually. The support we receive directly correlates to that success.
Even with our high achievement and growth, we are still striving to make an improvement. There's always something we can do to accelerate our excitement and recharge our learning.
My students need sturdy, uniform black music folders they can use in our classroom to rehearse with and to perform with at professional venues. Music folders are a necessity to every music class to stay organized and keep our music in good quality.
Last month, many students in our eastern North Carolianian school were devastated by the effects of natural disaster Hurricane Florence.
Some students faced financial hardships, were displaced from their homes, and some even lost everything due to extensive flooding. My class is a place where students come to take their minds off their burdens by singing together as one. Due to us being out of our school for such a long period of time and the power being shut off, all of our choir folders became severely moldy. Unfortunately, they were unsalvagable and we had to discard all of those folders.
We attend many events throughout the year that require us to have these folders. When students earn the opportunity to attend our All-County and All-State choirs, they are required to have them. Your donations will alleviate the cost from our students that may not be able to purchase their folder themselves.
You donate directly to the teacher or project you care about and see where every dollar you give goes.
