Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have very special, needy students in my integrated co-teaching class. We are a Title I funded school. The disabilities affecting my students range from speech and language to autism. They just don't have the resources available that they need.
I have a wonderful class.
They are learning to work together, be more creative, be more independent, and have a more positive outlook on life. My amazing students come into school every day with an eagerness to learn something new.
They are curious, funny, charming, and hard-working. They motivate me to be a better teacher, and I always want to make sure they have everything they need to make learning fun.
My Project
Having the choice to choose what is best for you is the ultimate decision to make. What is best for you? If given the choice to choose what kind of seating you'd like to have in your classroom, what would you choose? A traditional desk and chair or a plastic Surf lap desk? I want to give my students the opportunity to choose what type of seating and where they want to sit in the classroom to not only promote their engagement in their studies but also in the classroom environment as well. With these desks, it provides students with options.
Giving my students a choice in their learning, even as simple as the seat that they are going to sit in for an activity, really empowers them and their learning!
Simple choices help them grow in their education and in the classroom on a social level.
