My Students
I work with amazing children who participate in a special education program in a public school setting. My students have special and unique learning needs due to autism, speech/language disorders, health impairments, and other qualifying conditions.
My students are accessing the Common Core curriculum and are meeting their goals, objectives, and grade-level standards due to their hard work, determination, and their desire to learn and achieve in spite of their challenges.
They are an inspiration and are determined to achieve on a daily basis.
My Project
Can you imagine having a choice of where you sat or what you sat on in school? All I remember are hard, uncomfortable desks that offered no options for moving, stretching or getting comfortable.
I want my students to have options when it comes to something as basic, but as extremely important as where they sit to work, learn and collaborate.
I am requesting flexible and collaborative seating for my students. Our classroom needs a beanbag chair and a flex-space comfy stool. Both of these seating styles offer students a comfortable, flexible place to learn. These seating choices are easy to clean and are durable enough to last in a classroom setting.
Offering students a choice and the power to choose where they sit helps with focus, participation, behavior, socialization and so much more. All these awesome skills can be developed by choosing where to sit. It's as easy as choice plus comfort equals success!
