My students need the opportunity to choose what they want to use for their seating. The wobble chairs and balance balls are perfect for students who come to school filled with energy.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title One campus. The number of students that are economically disadvantaged on our campus is 70% of the school's population. This is based on the number of students that receive free or reduced-price lunch. The students come from a low-income, high-poverty area with little support.
My students are faced with daily challenges in and out of the classroom.
Some come to school hungry, some have been taken from their homes, some of them are still learning English, and most come to school looking for stability and needing the support of their teachers.
As a teacher, I strive to show them that no matter who they are or where they come from, they can all succeed and reach their full potential. The sky is the limit and they can do anything they put their minds to.
My Project
Within my classroom, we have a variety of different learners. Some work best while sitting on the floor, some at desks, and some moving, all while staying engaged and working! This year, I ventured out of the norm of a classroom and allowed my students to use some flexible seating items that I had purchased (scoop chairs and lap tables). The students enjoyed the different seating arrangements and were actively engaged. I realized that their ability to be comfortable while learning, as well as having a choice, gave my students a sense of responsibility. In order to help my students be successful and achieve their best, I would like my students to be able to pick the seat that works best for them. This project has been created to hopefully purchase the wobble chairs, balance balls, bean bag chairs, and couch for my classroom. This will allow my students the choice and ability to come in our classroom and not only see a variety of seating options, but choose what is going to work best for them. My students will have the opportunity to use these items during small group lessons as well as station time. The majority of their math block is used as station time where the students can use the flexible seating.
By donating to our project, you will be helping my students increase their ability to focus, be engaged during their station time, and, ultimately, help them be successful in the classroom.
My students will have the opportunity to choose a seating arrangement that what works best for them while working and being successful!
