I teach 22 amazing fourth graders who all come from vastly different home lives and experiences. They come to school to become better learners and grow as a person each and every day.
When in school, my students and I are working to create a kind and caring classroom environment where all students feel safe and comfortable to take risks and grow on a daily basis.
My classroom is made up of various different learning styles and needs specific to each individual student. As our district moves toward personalized learning, I am excited to see how my creative, ambitious, curious students will perform and grow throughout the school year!
My Project
My students need more flexible seating opportunities in order to help them learn to their full potential. Flexible seating allows students to take control of their own learning and make choices that work for them as individual learners. As our district moves toward personalized learning, I feel it is extremely important to also provide personalized seating arrangements for students throughout the school day. Students need the opportunity to be comfortable while in school, so that they can truly focus on learning and reaching their personal goals.
When given a choice of where to work during independent and small group time, my students are much more engaged and produce a higher quality of work.
The products I have selected will help my students by giving them more seating opportunities in the classroom, which in turn creates more effective learning choices. The classroom rug will be a place where we can gather as a class and build our classroom community. The floor seats, balance ball seats, and stools allow for a variety of options for students to use during instruction and work time.
I have seen how student choice has had a positive affect on my students and hope that these new additions to our classroom will help us grow even more!
