Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Eighty-five percent of students in my K-8 school qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. I teach in an Inclusion Kindergarten classroom, meaning that there is a population of children within the room with documented learning or behavioral disabilities. There are 25 children in my classroom, 18 boys and 7 girls. Many of the children are first generation Americans, and English is not the primary language spoken at home; for many of the children their main exposure to the English language comes in my classroom.

My Project

The children in my class make some spectacular things; they write stories, they write sentences, they solve math problems. The children love seeing their work displayed for everyone to see as they walk through the halls. The funding of this project will help allow me to display their work in the manner that their work deserves. This machine makes banners, labels, and so many other things that we can use in the classroom, the potential is limitless. Additionally, the children put on many performances for their parents and family members. This machine will also allow me to make personalized shirts for the children to wear during their performances, as well as enhance the gifts that the children make for their family members for Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc.
