My students need a new set of chimes to help furnish both our middle school and high school percussion students this necessary and commonly used percussion instrument.
Our Band program is currently serving approximately 250 students in grades 5th through 12th. This program serves a vital role in the school and community through music education. Performing in a musical ensemble is a very valuable educational experience.
Not only do we all have a need for music as people, we can appreciate the art of music with more depth if we have performed in an ensemble.
The quality of the ensemble that we participate in will greatly influence our experience and perception of music through our lifetime. By providing a number of settings for students to develop both their own instrumental skill and that of an ensemble member, our Band department is striving to provide it's students with a quality music education experience dedicated to the development of basic musicianship, teamwork, camaraderie, discipline, and dedication.
Our Band students are serving as musical ambassadors for not only the school but the community in which they live. Their efforts as musicians translates to good citizenship and a strong work ethic. As growth occurs and continues, so does the program's necessary expenditures to support it's students and their musical endeavors.
My Project
A need for our Pride of Elgin Bands is in the area of quality instruments to perform with. With our continued growth as a school and band program, those needs grow by the day. We have two band rooms that see over 250 students each day come through the doors to participate in instrumental music education.
The use of quality instruments not only creates a quality musical performance, but it gives students an accurate representation of their performing abilities.
Right now, we have one very old set of chimes that is showing it's age. Our students are awesome and they overcome the shortcomings of our current set of chimes. In addition to being old, there is only one set that is share between the two band rooms and multiple performing ensembles. With age and constant use comes even more wear and tear.
The donations for this project will help further instrumental music education for current students and many future students. A quality set of chimes can last decades. Any help you can provide to help make this project a success would be greatly appreciated!
