Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a group of 30 vibrant and lively third grade students in a Title I school in the Bronx. We love to learn and are extremely motivated to succeed in school.
I am motivated to help my students become avid readers who enjoy immersing themselves in interesting books.
We have a variety of needs in our classroom, but each child feels like they are a part of a "team" and enjoy working together. They call themselves CHAMPIONS and love to be persistent. My students deserve the best in order to help them succeed in third grade!
My Project
Guided reading books are a staple in an elementary classroom. These books are used daily to support reading fluency and comprehension. All of these guided reading books have been carefully chosen based on my students' interests and reading levels as well. I am eager to support these struggling readers as they approach grade level with the use of these scaffolded books.
To increase reading ability, students need to read more and have access to enjoyable books.
With the guided reading books, as well as the books for our classroom library, students will be able to choose what books interest them the most. In addition to the books, our project consists of paper trays. These paper trays will help to keep our reading handouts neat and organized!
