My students will be thrilled to receive their own magazines in the mail every month to read and take home. These magazines will be very motivating to them!
My first grade students come from the city.
They attend a magnet school. This means that most of the children come from the city with a few come in from the suburbs. They are eager to learn but don't always have the variety of materials that they need to become better readers. This project would give them just what they need.
My Project
My students want to learn to read, but don't have a lot of books at home or go to the library. My challenge is to surround them with reading materials and teach them the skills to read them. I stress the different ways that we read; books, magazines, cookbooks, menus...
These magazines would help me make reading fun by bringing the reading materials through the mail and allow them to keep the magazines, take them home to read again and again. Please help fund these two kid friendly magazines for my kids.
Giving my children reading materials that interest them that is on their reading level will help them increase their skills and hopefully motivate them to be life long readers!
