My students need 25 subscriptions each to Storyworks and Dynamath magazines that Scholastic publishes. One is a math magazine and the other is a wonderful mixture of fiction and nonfiction stories.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I remember how boring math and reading was for me when I was in third grade. Now a days, there are fun ways to entice students into these subjects through fun magazines. Dynamath and Storyworks are two magazines that my students love.
My students are a remarkable bunch.
I taught them in second grade and now will be teaching them in the third grade. They are smart, kind and above all curious. They want to know what is going on in the world and everything around them. It is a true gift to be able to teach a bunch like this!
My Project
Last year we ordered one magazine for the class that dealt with news articles. They LOVED this magazine and kept asking me if we could get more. Unfortunately my students or myself cannot afford the better magazines out there and I know if we had them, we can do so much with them. We could do whole class activities, group work, homework and especially work that will help us toward our goal of passing the third grade state test that they will encounter for the first time this year.
Please, I do not come in contact every year with a group of kids that enjoy reading and soak up everything I have to offer.
I want to provide them with as many opportunities and resources I am able to get for them. These magazines will make a huge difference in our classroom. Thank you
