My students need a variety of educational games and activities, such as Sequencing Cards and Trouble, that will be used to help them practice social skills, learn new vocabulary terms, and work on turn-taking with each other.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Games can be a fun and motivating way to learn and practice language skills. My school does not have the funding needed to purchase educational games and activities for our classroom.
I teach students with moderate to severe autism in a low income area.
My students all have reduced receptive, expressive, and pragmatic language skills and need specific materials to target these areas of weakness. Using materials that are highly motivating, visual, hands-on, and interactive will help my students build their language skills. It is expensive to purchase educational games and activities and my school does not have the funding needed to provide the resources necessary to teach our students.
My Project
Building language and social skills is challenging for children with Autism. I am requesting a variety of games and activities will allow me to utilize motivating materials while targeting and building a variety of language skills. All the games and activities requested focus on sorting, sequencing, vocabulary, and social skills which are very difficult for students with autism. In addition, playing games helps my students work on turn-taking, following directions, and social interactions with each other.
Many of my students have little or no exposure to games at home.
Games are great resource to help students work on turn-taking and interacting with their peers in a fun way. These educational games also make it motivating to practice the language skills we are working on in the classroom.
