My classroom is full of little sponges with insatiable curiosities! I teach a third and fourth grade full-time gifted classroom. While physically they are 8-10 years old, they are two to three years mentally above their peers. My students think deeply and require advanced concepts/skills to match their interests and academic levels. It is my responsibility to deepen and enhance my school district’s curriculum to provide an invigorating environment with experiences and advanced studies.
My gifted students are from typical Title I families that have very little funds to buy basic supplies.
Usually both parents work and our school/ community supplies clothing, food, and basic school supplies.
My Project
These computer mice and headphones will help my students efficiently use their computers without disturbing each other. We rely on the internet to listen to audio files, view educational videos, etc. The mice make navigating and testing easier on students as they research and edit essays.
I am asking for basic supplies that my students cannot afford.
While average and high income families readily supply their child with needed tools for learning, my low income families must rely on the public school system to equitably educate their children and provide these tools.
This puts a huge strain on our school and me as their teacher.
