My students are an amazing group of little thinkers and love to be engaged in learning through hands on, authentic, and challenging activities. They are growing and learning to be students who question, respect, and respond to our diverse and beautiful world. We have grown into a family and community of not only students but friends, families, dreamers, and thinkers who genuinely care about each other. Each day that passes in the classroom, I see them growing into thoughtful scholars who are preparing to care for our world and the people we share it with because they are learning, working, and playing together. My students, as well as our entire school population come from a variety of economical backgrounds with 25% of our kids receiving free and reduced lunch. Many of our students receive Back Sacks each week, which provides them healthy meals for the weekends. Our district has also implemented a food bank which provides food for the community in and around our schools. Within my classroom we have a diverse community where we teach and learn respect and pride for all cultures, races, and religious backgrounds. They are our future and that is what guides my teaching.
My Project
My students need engaging games and activities that focus on literacy, math, and developmental play to use during our station times. After a long day of learning challenging concepts, my students need real life and enriching activities to learn through play and academics with their peers. They can use these materials to explore learning independently and in groups through fun and challenging ways. They will build close peer relationships through using their imaginations to question, explore, problem solve, and to create together. Many of our students unfortunately spend very little time using their imaginations to create and build outside of the school environment. They are not given the experiences to play games with their peers because their families are working or lack the means. Your generous donation to our project will improve my students love for school and teach them how to work together to be creative thinkers and problem solvers. Not only will they become stronger readers, writers, mathematicians, but they will build a trusting and loving classroom community. This will change my students' lives for the better because they will be having fun while learning! You will be supporting their lifelong journey to being scholars who will one day make big decisions to better our world. They are our future!!!
