Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the pleasure of working with students from grades kindergarten to 8th. All of my students have an IEP. I say I have the pleasure of working with my students because each and every day it is a new adventure for me. I learn just as much from them as they do from me. Sometimes I think I may learn more from them. They keep me hip and up-to-date. They each are unique and I love that. It is challenging having students from basically all grades levels, however, it is rewarding.
My Project
My classroom is in need of a copier/printer. Teaching children with an IEP, from grades K-8, is not an easy task and with the budget cuts in the district, it is even harder to provide my students with resources they need to succeed. Many of my students come from low-income homes. At times, it is hard for parents to make contributions, however, this does not mean I throw in the towel.
My students need their instruction to be differentiated.
In order to provide each and every one of my students with instruction that is geared towards their specific need, I must be able to instantly print/copy extra resources for them and engage them in technology-based projects that will enhance their learning. With the continuous budget cuts in education, our students are being deprived of supplies. However, as teachers, we must fight for what our children need.
