Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
By giving teenagers real answers to real world dilemmas (like sex, pregnancy and parenting) they are better able to connect situations they face and make better decisions.
Historically my district has topped the charts in teenage pregnancy and subsequent pregnancies among teen moms.
By offering a course like Child Development we have been able to have real conversations about the consequences of teen pregnancy and raising children. ANY resource we can put in front of teens to help them realize the consequences of sex and parenting the better equipped they are before making those choices.
My Project
By having videos and games in the classroom that deal with child development topics specifically we are better able to reach teens. They pay closer attention when actively engaged and retain more of the material presented. By using the resources in this cart I can vary instruction and better hold their attention.
Giving to this project will help educate 350 teens each year on the dangers of sex before marriage by informing them of the demands of parenting.
These resources will better illustrate the needs children have as they grow assisting me in creating a classroom of active learning.
