As a students in brand new building, our fifth graders have the greatest challenges. They have an extremely short time to get to know their teachers, develop their culture, and develop a sense of community with each other. Within a year, they will be heading to middle school.
Awesomely, they LOVE the library and they soak up books!
There are several kids that come back multiple times per week! It seems that they are looking for somewhere to fit in!
"Think. Help. Change" - The Wild Robot
Teaching our kids to read for pleasure is one of the many goals of any teacher.
By starting a lunch-time book club, I will be able to show our fifth-graders the awesome power of book discussion!
These purchased books will be able to be used and enjoyed for years to come! Since this is the first-ever book club, we will be piloting the program with 5th grade. The books will help our fifth-graders come together as a community and learn how to empathize with the central character in the story.
This Book Club, in turn, help our students read more deeply and be able to analyze what they are reading.
