This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"The greatest advancements in our society from medicine to mechanics have come from the minds of those interested in or studied in the areas of STEM." I have a classroom full of interested minds, but lack the technology needed to support their growing potential.

My students are a lively, creative bunch!

They are eager to learn and integrate technology into our lessons; however, they are limited because we share one computer cart between multiple classrooms. We get the computer cart once per week, which simply is not enough time to complete the number of projects and assignments to satisfy these tech-hungry students!

My Project

Computer science provides students with an opportunity to problem solve, build logical reasoning skills, and think about the complexities of the world. STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) topics include virtually everything! According to the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, "The problem is not just a lack of proficiency among American students; there is also a lack of interest in STEM fields." My goal is to spark the interest in STEM related fields of study by providing more access to computer programming and coding activities. With more laptops available to students, they will learn to turn their great ideas into action!

Technology has revolutionized the way we live.

When integrated into the classroom, it revolutionizes the way students learn. Students are highly engaged when technology is involved and they enjoy the learning process. More importantly, they are developing 21st century skills that are necessary to be successful in junior high, high school, college, and beyond. Adding these laptops to our classroom will support the achievement and academic success of my students!
