Help me give my students the opportunity to learn the games of chess and checkers so they can further their knowledge of both games by playing and then teaching other students to play the games as well.
Every child in my class LOVES to learn and I want to to be the teacher that continues to make the love of learning continue for them. My students are so very creative, understanding, full of energy, and have a true passion for learning. My hope is to incorporate these games into the GT curriculum. We have low-income families in our district and this might be a chance for some of them to obtain skills using logical reasoning games that will impact their educational future while embodying a great deal of fun. I am blessed to have these students in my classroom everyday and look forward for another fantastic year.
My Project
These three games in my project will assist students in learning to strategize and think critically and be able to carry that knowledge to all subject areas. The above mentioned games will also be used to teach students of different ages how to play. Their knowledge of these games will enhance their logical thinking to solve problems in math and writing, too.
These three games that I have chosen will help the students be able to solve problems that are not in their immediate present or their current choices, but will impact their future strategizing decisions for years to come.
Tic-Tac-Toe will help the youngest students know how to recognize patterns and be able to look steps ahead. The game of checkers and chess will further strengthen their strategic thinking.
My project will also encourage all of my students to strive to be the best they can be, so that they will want to teach other students to play these games. If you know my students this will be a great motivator.
